This is a virtual event

Hollywood makes billions of dollars every month, while the workers behind the scenes can barely afford to pay rent. Bosses have put workers lives in danger by forcing them into 14-hour shifts. Ownership wants to double the hours needed for workers to qualify for their pensions.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) represents over 150,000 workers in virtually all arts, media, and entertainment crafts. On Monday, September 19th, negotiations between multiple IATSE locals and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) hit an impasse when the bosses refused the workers demands. Union leadership has now gone to their membership to ask for a nationwide strike authorization vote.

If IATSE members do vote to strike, and production shuts down, it will the biggest labor strike in over a decade. There are over 200 DSA members working across IATSE locals. This is the time to stand with our fellow workers, friends, and comrades.

Join us on Tuesday, September 28th for an event to hear from dual DSA & IATSE members, DSA-LA Labor organizers, leadership from DSA-LA's Hollywood Labor, and more! We'll discuss why strikes matter, and how we all can contribute in this fight.
