LOCATION: UPPER SENATE PARK AREA 2 (Next to Russell Senate Office Building)

The Report for Duty Rally & Hill Day is a national day of action bringing together nurses, healthcare workers, and allies for collective presence, public demonstration, and direct policy engagement. The day will include a midday rally, and afternoon advocacy visits on Capitol Hill.

Event Overview: What to Expect

Rally | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join nurses from across the country as we gather on Capitol Hill UPPER SENATE PARK AREA 2 (Next to Russell Senate Office Building) to elevate our collective voice and align around key priorities impacting the nursing workforce and patient care.

  • Opening + framing of the day

  • Frontline nurse voices

  • Policy priorities and calls to action

  • Keynote Address: Dr. Justin Gill

  • Closing + transition to Hill visits

Capitol Hill Visits (Following Rally)
Participants will transition into scheduled or self-organized meetings with congressional offices.

  • Meet with legislators and staff

  • Share lived experience and policy priorities

  • Deliver coordinated advocacy messages

Rally Participants: What You Need to Know

  • This is a peaceful, professional gathering

  • Attire: Scrubs, branded gear, or business casual

  • Bring: ID, comfortable shoes, water, snacks

  • Plan for security checkpoints and walking between buildings

  • Stay connected with your group/point of contact

Safety & Self-Care Guidance

We want everyone to show up strong—and stay well throughout the day.

Physical Safety

  • Stay hydrated and eat before/throughout the day

  • Wear comfortable shoes for standing and walking

  • Be mindful of weather conditions (sun protection, layers as needed)

  • Follow all Capitol Police and Rally Marshalls guidance and designated areas

Emotional Well-being

  • Advocacy can be energizing—but also emotional

  • Take breaks as needed—step away, reset, breathe

  • Support one another—check in with colleagues

Community Care

  • Stay with your group when possible

  • Be respectful of shared space and other participants

  • Represent the nursing profession with professionalism and integrity

Advocacy Preparation

  • Be ready to share your story in 1–2 minutes

  • Focus on impact: patients, workforce, safety

  • Keep messages clear and aligned with rally priorities
