We here in western Pennsylvania are facing off against forces of great wealth and political power that want to come into our communities without regard to what we want. This scenario is playing out all across the country. We can learn from the struggles of others.
Too often, the Golden Rule rules the day: The guy with the gold makes the rules. This film tells us, "We are not powerless."
Come view the award winning documentary, Vs Goliath, then stay to hear one of the subjects of the film.
A retired schoolteacher, a former oil refinery worker, an Army veteran, and a group of Indigenous activists come together to fight the fossil fuel industry and protect their homelands while imagining a more just and prosperous future for their communities.
Together,
rooted in their faith, deep commitment, and service to their
communities, they stand firm in the shadow of Goliath, refusing to back
down.
Maury Johnson, farmer and retired teacher from southern West Virginia will show us the film and then lead a lively discussion afterwards.
This is a bring your own chair and popcorn event. It will be held on the patio of home in Cherry Valley. Come for the film, leave with a roadmap to the communities we want!
It would be good if you provided your phone number so we can call you should an unforeseen event cause a cancellation or delay.
