Our Fights Are All Connected

SPECIAL Bi-Lingual Fossil Fuel Walking Tour – Sun June 22

In French & English! Walk with activists from Chad  and NYC standing up to fossil fuel destruction.

Special Guests on This Sunday's NoNBK Pipeline Fossil Fuel Walking Tour! (This tour will be bilingual – in French and English)

We’re excited to welcome guests from Chad this Sunday, including Djibert, an engineer who has worked with ExxonMobil, Tchad Petroleum Company, and United Hydrocarbon Chad Ltd. Djibert will share insider knowledge on the global fossil fuel industry and its impacts, connecting local fights to international systems.

This special visit is in collaboration with The NYC Open School, a community of learners exploring big questions like:

  • How do we share knowledge across cultures?

  • What does racism look like in different places?

  • How do we live, learn, and connect in NYC?

Join us for a powerful cross-cultural, bilingual experience as we walk, learn, and build solidarity in the fight for climate justice.

Who: No North Brooklyn Pipeline Alliance and Open School

What: Our next fossil fuel walking tour this weekend is going to be a special one. We will be joined by activists from Chad who want to learn more about our fight against National Grid to shut down the Greenpoint LNG.

Please join us to learn more about the Greenpoint LNG and welcome our fellow activists from Chad and stay after for a pizza party and to learn about their fight.

An Info Session with refreshments, zines, and stickers, followed by a walking tour. Currently, National Grid, a UK-based monopoly corporation doing business as our local gas utility in New York, is laying out its plan for the next 20 years. They claim fracked gas growth is our future. We demand that National Grid comply with our climate law, retire its toxic fossil fuel systems, and replace the gas network with thermal energy networks, community solar, and energy efficiency.

Where: Meet in Cooper Park near the playground on Maspeth Ave, Greenpoint Brooklyn, 11211, MAP

When:  Sunday, June 22nd, starting at 3:00 pm for an info session. We will depart at 3:30 sharp for the walking tour. We will return to Cooper Park around 5:00 pm

Why: The more we know, the more we build community power; we can build a city that serves the people, not shareholder-owned corporations. We Won't Pay To Be Poisoned

  • Did you know New York State's largest fossil fuel depot is in North Brooklyn, adjacent to homes, businesses, and playgrounds?
  • Did you also know that we pay for it through our monthly utility bills?

Join the No North Brooklyn Pipeline and Sane Energy Project for an info session and walking tour of the LNG (Liquefied "Natural" Gas) facility to learn how we are working to transform this site into 120 acres that serve the community, not a shareholder-focused corporation.

The gas systems should be RETIRED, NOT REPLACED! New York State law requires that we get off all fossil fuels by 2050 to mitigate the climate disasters unfolding in real time before us. We shouldn’t be paying BILLIONS dollars for National Grid to invest in their decrepit gas system!

Climate change is here, with extreme heat, brutal cold, massive wildfires, devastating hurricanes, and previously unimaginable floods. We CAN build an energy system that does not harm us!

The Public Service Commission (PSC) and the governor must ensure that we meet the requirements of the state climate law, protect our residents, farms, and businesses, and lead the nation in smart climate policy.

We will keep to the side walk!
