Native Lives Matter Coalition hosts is fourth Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Memorial March. The annual march which is held on Valentine's Day, serves to bring visibility and raise awareness to the ongoing epidemic of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women including Girls, 2 Spirit and Relatives.
“Lack of awareness is a problem,” Shawn Carr, who attended the march, said. “People don’t realize that Native women are disproportionately represented in missing and murdered women”

“The event began with a Red Ribbon memorial where family members shared and asked for support. (The ceremony was not photographed) A Red Shawl (Solidarity Shawls) honor round dance was held with community members and the Sacred Hoop Coalition in support for families honoring their lost loved ones. Afterwards community marched with Red Shawls leading, from the American Indian Community Housing Organization through downtown Duluth ending at the Building for Women” -Rene Ann Goodrich, Native Lives Matter Coalition, event host and organizer.
