Apply to Run for Climate | February 2026
Lead Locally is excited to offer our flagship Run for Climate training series for climate leaders that are interested in running for office, staffing a campaign, or getting more involved in electoral politics as a volunteer in February and March 2026. Join us to level up your electoral organizing skills!
The free, virtual training runs for six consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from February 3 through March 10 at 6-8pm ET / 5-7pm CT / 4-6pm MT / 3-5pm PT. Participation in all of sessions is required.
If you’re considering running for office, already have your plans in place, hope to support or staff a climate candidate’s campaign, or are just figuring out how to engage with the upcoming elections, we want you to apply! We understand that climate might not be the top public message in every district, and if that’s the case where you live, this training is also for you.
During the trainings, we’ll cover the mechanics of planning and executing an election campaign, as well as climate messaging and the opportunities to pass local climate policy. Each training will end with a panel of elected officials to discuss the day's learning with real world experience. Sessions will cover:
1: Narrative strategy & campaign messaging
2: Campaign planning & voter targeting
3: Climate policy & climate messaging
4: Voter contact & persuasion
5: Fundraising & campaign budgets
6: Digital & social media for campaigns
Complete the short application on this page to join the training! Once you submit the application, we'll follow up with more details on logistics.
Do you have friends or neighbors who you think should run for local office? Anyone in your community that may be interested in this training? Share this application with them – or fill out our short nomination form and we'll be in touch with them directly!
Many thanks to our organizational partners: Run for Something, Third Act, Friends of the Earth Action, Texas Campaign for the Environment, People Power & Light, Georgia Conservation Voters.
