2025 CT DSA National Convention Delegate Candidacy

Every two years, Democratic Socialists of America gathers delegates from its chapters and at-large members across the country to debate and vote on resolutions and amendments to our constitution in what is the highest decision-making body in our organization, the DSA National Convention. This year, 2025, the Convention will be held in person in Chicago from August 8th to August 10th.
Connecticut DSA has been apportioned 15 delegates and 2 alternates, who shall be able to vote in the stead of any other delegate if they are unable to attend for a portion or all of the convention.
The rules and eligibility requirements shall be copied below:
Delegate Elections
- CT DSA will use an STV method in order to conduct their election.
- CT DSAs nomination period shall close on May 20th. During our Chapter Convention (May 31st), we will hold candidate panels and give members a chance to ask questions to people running for delegate.
- The day after our Chapter Convention, on June 1st, Electronic Ballots will be sent out to members eligible to vote. Ballots will remain open until June 6th.
- CT DSAs Steering Committee will make a plan to meet financial needs for delegate travel and expenses. We can assure all candidates that we have the resources to financially support anyone elected to a delegate seat. Do not let cost deter you from standing for consideration!
Eligibility for Election and Seating of Delegates
- Any member in good standing of a local may run for delegate.
- An individual must be in good standing as a DSA member through the end of convention in order to be seated as a delegate or alternate delegate.
