London Climate Action Week webinar - Tackling energy efficiency in the private rented sector

Join us for a deep dive into how local authorities in London are enforcing energy efficiency standards, on Zoom on 23 June at 6pm.

As social housing and home ownership have declined as options for most people, the private rented sector has grown enormously in London.

But it also includes many of the least insulated homes, with corresponding high bills and/or poor quality of life and likely health impacts.

So, how are London boroughs matching up to the task of enforcing the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards for landlords?

Friends of the Earth’s London Network has asked all boroughs what enforcement action they have taken, and will be publishing the results a few days before this event.

While a few have taken significant action, an alarming number seem to have taken no formal enforcement at all.

This webinar will look at the findings of this report, showcase good examples of work being done, and look at what lessons can be learnt to improve boroughs’ work, as they should be gearing up to enforce the much higher standard of EPC C by 2030.

Guest speakers include Leonie Cooper AM, Lynn Sellar from Haringey Council and a campaigner (TBA) from Fuel Poverty Action.
