Members of Birmingham DSA's Mutual Aid Committee want to know if you're interested in getting involved with Food Action (formerly known as Direct Snacktion)!

Food Action is Bham DSA's direct action food program. At least once a month, we serve warm meals to members of the community. This is often in conjunction with allying organizations such as Cell.A65 or as part of other Bham DSA events such as the Brake Light Clinic. People contribute individual dishes to provide a well-balanced meal.

We're considering many possibilities for the future of our Food Action program, including...

  • Pairing it with other mutual aid, like socks/shoes distribution, a free foot care clinic, period product distribution, clothing distribution, community Narcan training, and more
  • Developing it into a communal meal, where we more actively break bread with our neighbors and listen to their concerns
  • Collaborating more deeply with our Food Action co-organizers at Cell.A65 to provide more mutual aid, and build power, for working-class Birminghamians
