Joint Signature Proposal for FridaysforFuture

STATEMENT ON GLOBAL HUMAN RIGHTS FROM FRIDAYS FOR FUTURE INTL.

We understand the central issues seriously inhibiting and abrogating human rights across our planet are:

  • the accelerating climate breakdown, including ecological crisis, also known as ecocide,

  • state-driven occupations, wars, societal breakdown and civilian surveillance, and

  • fascist-backed unsustainable inequality, including ever-rising costs of living.

For Human Rights to thrive, as guaranteed by the UN’s 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, requires:

  • a livable climate, for instance, with reduced catastrophic weather events causing more destruction and death,

  • democratic government (for instance, with transparency, oversight, without propaganda, with reasonable wealth redistribution), and

  • low external and internal state conflicts (with any states guilty of inhibiting strikes, protests, and other non-violent direct actions, to be sanctioned, embargoed, and boycotted).

Signing here includes accepting these three documents:

1. UN IPCC NDC Failure: (NDC = National Determined Contribution)
Most if not all NDCs do not include the tipping points and rely upon an very poor guess, which gives a false sense of safety to governments and their citizens.

2. FridaysforFuture Core Values with details and updates described below:

  1. Gratitude
Celebrate local autonomy as a key element of ‘alliance of the willing.’ Gratitude as we reconfirm, with peer reviewed science, the many excellent practices which First Nation Indigenous cultures have taught for millennia.

  2. Compassion

  3. Respect for other, Radical Respect and Care, Ask not tell. If we do not like another person’s action we ‘Ask not Tell’.

  4. Personal Integrity

  5. Personal and Community Privacy.
Always seek consent before sharing personal details or contact of others
(e.g., name, personal email address, phone numbers, websites).

  6. Commitment to Climate Activism.

  7. Inclusion Individuals
Trying to include everyone in every decision is impractical, a lot of
hard centralized work with many mistakes and also undermines local autonomy.
No Blaming and Shaming does not apply to companies, institutions, governments, military and extreme wealth with ridiculous lifestyle choices, eg private jets, above 100 tonne/year.
The Carbon Footprint reduction programs by British Petroleum and NGO programs to push no plastic, no meat and no cars, may create unhealthy personal guilt frustrations. If nurtured with empathy, it could increase an individual to ‘Make their voice heard!’.
Note the military emissions are lacking in the NDCs, National Determined Contributions, and only rarely is Climate breakdown openly recognized as a massive National Security Issue as Home Front does.

  8. Inclusion Groups and Organizations

  9. Nurture Local Autonomy & Regenerative Cultures
No permission is needed. Ideas are welcome to go forward if there is
sufficient interest to support and implement them. Another’s work shall not be hindered, discouraged or stopped unless it is clearly outside of the FridaysforFuture Local Core Values or the Action Guidelines.
Collaboration promotes everyone while competition, undermining, and public criticism weakens the entire movement.
Regenerative cultures shall nurture respectful decision-making and positive community interaction.
Technology and processes shall enable and follow decentralized social systems, rather than social systems adapting to technology.

    FridaysforFuture Vision Proposal
with details and updates described below:

  1. FFF is a grassroots climate movement, which unites behind the science. #TheScienceIsClear, Accept the science.

  2. FFF is founded on facts, not politics and is non-partisan.
'... our Climate Breakdown actually requires deep, large and difficult changes and politically impossible solutions. If politicians do not feel they have the power to do this, which most democracies do Not have, then use Citizen assembly or resign, rather than not do what is needed!'. Solutions are inherently local and collaborative in method. With more local empowerment, resources, then there is increased solution quality, transparency and accountability.

  3. FFF is committed to solidarity with front-line communities,
including solidarity with the broad variety of Non violent Direct action methods. These activists are taking risks to make the voice of climate and ecological emergency heard.

  4. FFF is decentralized and non-hierarchical and mitigate for power.
FFF uses SOS (Self Organizing Systems) which includes consent and is given after serious objections are reduced and advice acknowledged. After sincere SOS effort is used, consensus may be used in documented and rare cases. Work groups with autonomy over their mandates.

  5. FFF welcomes everyone. All are needed.
Everyone 'regardless of race, religion, gender, age, social-economics, or identity.', sexual identity and neuroatypical differences are welcome.
For FFFMap Solidarity, the 10 minutes/week RAS (Record, Appreciate & Share) process and this form are highly encouraged.

  6. FFF does not tolerate discrimination, bullying, or harassment.

  7. FFF encourages regular, persistent public action.

  8. FFF builds collaborative partnerships/relationships.
FFF shall work with and collaborate with cross movement issues for instance colonialism. When examining each system of oppression please try to show the relationship to Climate and Ecological breakdown.

  9. FFF prioritizes local participation.

  10. FFF uses awareness and regenerative culture.

  11. FFF does not blame and shame.
Shame and blame are regularly used by our movement to pinpoint the faults in our toxic system, especially towards the media, finance, political institutions, refrain from internal shame or blame.
Also, we support Non violent Direct action and in the case of an action we may feel uncomfortable with we try to use empathy for the risks taken. We try to be specific and private with criticism, it shows compassion. And we find internal methods to give feedback and respect each activist's autonomous integrity.

Acknowledgement of Country
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, sea and sky – the indigenous and First Nations Peoples. For instance, in victoria, this is the Kulin nations; in Australia, this is all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Nations. This land, sea and sky were never ceded. We acknowledge elders of these nations past and present.
