October 17: Penn Stands Against The Compact
In just a few short days, more than 1,300 members of the Penn community have signed the petition to say No to the Compact. We have also learned in that time that the Compact was, in essence, born at Penn, so our work to end it takes on special significance. Your continued pressure on the administration is crucial!
Next Steps to Take:
- Keep encouraging members of our community to sign the petition, which is now co-sponsored by GETUP-UAW and RAPUP-UAW.
- If you are on campus, come to Annenberg Plaza this Monday, October 13th, from 10:30am to 4:30pm. Come talk about the Compact, GETUP's contract negotiations, and pick up AAUP swag (including buttons and signs).
- Join with members of the Penn Community on Friday, October 17th, at 3pm to publicly stand together against the Compact. This event is part of a nationally-coordinated effort between the 9 targeted schools to show our strong opposition to the Compact. The event will begin with a teach-in and will transition at around 4pm to a march to the President's Office to present the petition and signatory list to the administration. Your presence matters and is a physical representation of the commitment and resolve of this community.
- Use this page to RSVP for the event. Responses will be used for planning purposes and to share additional details (e.g., location) as the event approaches.
