Take the Survey: Do you Demand Action on Gun Violence?
The killing must stop. It is time for state legislators, Governors, members of Congress and the President to choose saving lives over grubbing for NRA contributions. It is long past time for them to get behind common-sense efforts to keep guns out of dangerous hands and to restrict access to guns that serve no purpose other than as weapons of warfare. One such protection may be “extreme risk protection orders”, sometimes known as “Red Flag” laws.
An extreme risk protection order (ERPO) empowers family members and police to take guns away from a person who may pose a danger to themselves or others. The person's access to firearms is blocked until they can demonstrate that the risk is over. Essentially, ERPOs are a temporary restraining order for guns. In the states that have Red Flag laws, the data is clear: these laws have proved to be very effective at preventing domestic abusers and seriously troubled people from getting their hands on guns.
In addition to Red Flag laws, we want to consider a number of more comprehensive, common-sense reforms, including - but not limited to:
- SUPPORTING Strengthened Universal Background Checks
- SUPPORTING closing the Gun Show / Online Sales Loopholes
- OPPOSING Concealed Carry Reciprocity
- SUPPORTING a ban on Bump Stocks
- SUPPORTING a Comprehensive Assault Weapons Ban that includes high capacity magazines and other devices that modify guns into weapons of mass destruction
MARCH ON is powered by you, the marchroots, and we want to hear what you think about this idea. Is this a common-sense idea that MARCH ON should get behind? Do you think we should be partnering with groups like Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action to support common-sense regulations that can make our communities, schools and homes safer?
We have put together a quick survey so we can hear from you and find out what you think. Without your support we can’t take on big issues like this and work to change our country - from the streets, to the ballot-box.
