After several years, the FreeRamyShaath campaign is back and turns once again to those who stood with us in the fight for his freedom from arbitrary detention in Egypt. Together, we succeeded in bringing Ramy Shaath, a Palestinian-Egyptian leader and former political prisoner, out of prison and into safety in France after his release in 2022.

That safety, however, is now under threat. Despite being welcomed in France after years of imprisonment, Ramy now faces the risk of deportation by the French authorities for carrying the aspirations of his people for freedom and dignity in the face of occupation and genocide, and for speaking out against France’s complicity.

While deportation remains a real risk, another equally worrying scenario is unfolding: a continued stay in France under escalating administrative control, including restrictive measures, possible house arrest, and surveillance that would further limit his freedom of movement and expression, despite already being unable to travel or work for over two and a half years.

#FreeRamyShaath2 is a call to continue what we started together: to fight for freedom and family unity, and to refuse both deportation and the slow, administrative containment of a political voice.
