GRUHA (Guelph Renters Union and Housing Advocates)

The COVID-19 crisis has led to conditions that mean many people will be unable to make their rent payments. It has exacerbated all of the problems with a housing market based on private investment.

No one should have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table.

People without employment income or full time hours, new migrants, minorities, and Indigenous people all face additional barriers to making rent during these difficult times. The best thing we can do as a collective is: if you are supposed to pay rent this month, don't do it.

We are creating city-wide movement that takes power from banks, businesses, and landlords and brings it to renters.
