ACTION: Invest in re-entry housing services

What is the problem? The State of Alabama currently provides no re-entry housing support for the vast majority of people who are released from the Alabama Department of Corrections. Without this support, it means that every year, thousands of people are turned out of Alabama’s prisons with no money and nowhere to sleep, shower, cook, or live. It is an obvious, cruel recipe for failure, and lack of housing has been repeatedly identified as the greatest barrier to successful re-entry across the state.

How can I help? You can use this online portal to send letters to your state legislators urging them to use ARPA funds to invest in crucial re-entry housing services across Alabama. Once you send those letters, you can share this portal with other people in your community. Lawmakers need to hear from us so that they will make this a priority!
