Tell Governor Lamont to Bring Automatic Voter Regisration to CT

Connecticut is falling behind when it comes to updating and modernizing our election system. Today, 19 states and the District of Columbia have implemented Automatic Voter Registration, or AVR, making it easier for their citizens to register to vote, saving the state money, and cutting down on problems at the polls. The idea is simple—when you go to the DMV, DSS, or another state agency, the data you provide in that interaction is shared securely within state government and used to register you to vote or update your existing voter registration. This means that residents are able to both do their business with the agency and take care of their voter registration needs in one step.

During the recent legislative session, AVR was included in a package of election reforms that Gov. Lamont presented to the legislature, but inside politics prevented the package from receiving a vote and the legislature left town without considering it. Gov. Lamont is expected to call the legislature back into session this fall to address a number of issues.

Use this form to send a letter to Gov. Lamont asking him to call a special session to pass AVR this year.
