The Ebony Alert is important because every missing person deserves immediate attention and the best chance of being found safely. Black women and girls go missing at disproportionately high rates, yet their cases often receive less media coverage and fewer urgent alerts than others.

An Ebony Alert would help close this gap by ensuring that when Black women and girls go missing under suspicious or high-risk circumstances, the public is notified quickly. Rapid alerts can mobilize communities, increase awareness, and improve the chances of bringing loved ones home safely.
