Q. Who is the New York State Energy Planning Board? 
A. The 2024 New York State Energy Planning Board is a group of representatives from different state agencies and organizations who work together to create a plan for New York's energy future. The Board's job is to make a roadmap for how New York will meet its energy needs in a way that is clean, strong, and affordable for everyone, while also protecting the environment and people's health.

Q. Why is my comment important right now? 
A. The Plan was last updated in 2020, and it's time for a new plan that considers recent changes in energy and climate action goals. The State Energy Planning Board is starting the process and wants your input. The plan should help New York State make smart decisions about energy and work towards a better energy future for all New Yorkers.

Q. What are the main things the New York State Energy Planning Board wants to achieve in the next 15 years? 
A. In simple terms, the final plan will look at the next 15 years and focus on: Meeting our energy needs in the future. Moving away from using fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gases. Making sure our energy is dependable and affordable. Considering how our energy choices affect the environment, public health, and the economy. The plan wants to make sure we have the energy we need without harming our planet or people's health, and that it doesn't cost too much or hurt the economy
