Urge FCPS leadership to act quickly on school solar
After years of delays, solar panels have finally started to go up on some Fairfax County schools. This is great news! School solar will help FCPS reduce its energy costs, improve community resilience, provide learning opportunities for students and mitigate climate change.
However, currently, FCPS only has plans for solar on a small fraction of its 199 schools and centers. That's worrisome because the window for school solar projects is closing with the accelerated phaseout of the commercial solar tax credit. Please use this form to write to Superintendent Michelle Reid, your school board member, and the at-large members about this issue. We want to express appreciation for the work FCPS has done on solar so far AND urge them to move more quickly to install solar on as many school roofs as possible.
