Co-Sponsor the Resolution Recognizing the Nakba

Message your Member of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor the resolution recognizing the Nakba.

May 15th marks the 78th annual commemoration of the Nakba, or "catastrophe" in English, Palestinians' term for the ethnic cleansing they suffered at the hands of Israel during its establishment.

Between 1947-1949, between 750,000 and 1 million Palestinians–approximately 4 of out every 5 Palestinians–became refugees as they were expelled from their homes by Israel or fled in fear for their lives as Israel committed massacres.

During the Nakba, Israel destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages, stole Palestinian land, and refused to allow refugees to return home despite them having the rights to do so under international law.

However, the Nakba is not just a historical event—it is ongoing as Israel continues to inflict genocide on Palestinians in Gaza and drive Palestinians off their land in the West Bank. And currently Israel is devastating people in Lebanon in similar ways.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib—the only Palestinian-American Member of Congress—is expected later this month to reintroduce her historic resolution to recognize the Nakba and end US complicity in Israel's infliction of an ongoing catastrophe against the Palestinian people.

Please take a moment and write your Representative asking them to become an original co-sponsor of this important resolution.
