Late at night on June 24, the Senate Finance Committee requested a last-minute amendment to S.B. 106, specifically written to kill Preschool for All. You can read reporting about this wildly undemocratic move here.

This will be discussed by the Senate Finance Committee today at 1pm, and will then need to pass the House (It is currently a “Work Session” but it may be changed to a public hearing at the last minute, in which case people can submit testimony.

There will be much more to say later about how disgusting this is, but for now, please click through to send an email to the Senate Finance Committee and the Governor right now. This small group, most of whom do not even live in the Portland Metro, is enthusiastically pushing this course of action with the Governor’s approval. (It is especially disappointing to see Kathleen Taylor, who does represent Portland—tell her that!). You will also have the option to write to the full legislature, urging them against any future support of this undemocratic bill.
