Save important peat moss in Greater Manchester
Trafford Council is applying for planning permission for the Carrington Relief Road in Greater Manchester, and we have until 27 February to object.
The Carrington Relief Road is controversial as it will cause harm to Carrington Moss, a 335 hectare peat moss, which Natural England considers to be an irreplaceable habitat. It will also damage or totally destroy 40 hectares of productive agricultural land, and increase traffic, air, noise, light, vibration, dust and water pollution and carbon emissions, significantly affecting both human and wildlife/bird populations. Non-road alternatives have not been considered, and the road would make active travel more difficult.
To object to the planning application just put your name, address and email in the ‘Take Action’ panel, then click the ‘Start Writing’ button to send in your objection. You can edit the suggested text as you see fit (it is better if it is in your own words). When you’re ready, hit ‘Send Letter’. The whole process should take less than a minute.
