Write to Congress: Demand the Release of Mahmoud Khalil, Rumeysa Ozturk, and all student activists

Updated 3.28.25

The student movement for Palestine is under attack, as the U.S. government threatens to deport students who speak up for Palestinian human rights. As of this writing, Secretary of State Rubio has revoked 300+ student visas. ICE has abducted multiple students, from kidnapping Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil from his New York apartment in front of his 8-months-pregnant wife, to ambushing Tufts University student Rumeysa Ozturk on the street on her way to iftar.

Public pressure has already helped force hearings in Mahmoud’s case and pushed many elected representatives to speak out. It is imperative that we keep up the momentum and demonstrate mass support for the release of all student activists.

Write to your elected officials now and demand that they do everything in their power to protect student activists and immigrants.

This was a calculated attempt to scare advocates for Palestinian freedom into silence, and to test what the public will tolerate. The Trump administration wants this arrest to be the blueprint for many to come. It’s up to us to stop this plan here, and loudly fight back.

We must come together and fight for each other’s freedom. Free Mahmoud Khalil!
