Save the Roundabout

Don't let LFP's City Council stop essential traffic safety upgrades at the last minute.
Plans have been on the books since 2018 to build a roundabout at the intersection of Ballinger Way NE (WA 104) and 40th Place NE. This roundabout would make the dangerous intersection safer, preventing the numerous crashes recorded there in recent years, and providing safety to cyclists and pedestrians of all ages as they travel from Town Center, the Civic Club, and the Burke-Gilman Trail to neighborhoods and parks throughout Lake Forest Park and neighboring cities, including the Interurban Trail.
This project is already funded, with both state department of transportation grants, state legislative earmarks, and the city's dedicated traffic safety funding. The design is complete and was put out to bid. The city has already spent money moving the project this far, and community members have invested time and energy giving feedback that brought it this close to completion. It would be a travesty and an insult to kill this project at the 11th hour. And yet at the September 11, 2025 council meeting, some council members may push to reject the agenda item that would allow construction to commence.
Tell the council to stand up for safety and responsible governance and complete this essential effort.
