Support New Homes Through Measure ULA Reform

Measure ULA was passed to fund affordable housing and homelessness prevention, but flaws in its design are penalizing new housing far more than the measure is funding it, killing the very projects that generate affordable units, construction jobs, and long-term property-tax revenue in our city.

Fixing these flaws is a necessary first step to jumpstarting LA’s housing market and ensuring that Measure ULA actually delivers more housing and affordability for Angelenos. A proposal from Councilmember Nithya Raman would place targeted reforms on the June ballot to provide a 15-year tax exemption for new multifamily and commercial construction.

City Council will hear Councilmember Raman’s reform motion this Tuesday morning—and supportive voices are critical. Use our email template to send a letter of support to the City Council and, if you’re able, show up at City Hall before 10 am on Tuesday to speak in person in favor of this reform.

This is a pivotal moment to support a practical solution that accelerates new homebuilding and helps Los Angeles meet the scale of its housing crisis.
