📣Support Peace, Accountability, and Human Rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

For nearly three decades, armed groups in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have killed approximately 6 million people and displaced millions more. Armed groups, corruption, and the exploitation of critical minerals—often tied to global supply chains—have fueled violence, child labor, and widespread human rights abuses.

A recent peace agreement between the governments of the DRC and Rwanda presents an opportunity to move toward stability after years of devastating conflict. H.Res.559, introduced in the House of Representatives, recognizes the urgent need for peace, accountability, and sustained diplomatic and economic engagement to support lasting stability in the region.

Congress must support peace that is durable and just—one that protects civilians, curbs armed group activity, and ensures transparency and accountability in global supply chains.
