The Washington Post reported that a DOGE staffer bragged about taking sensitive Social Security databases to his new job at a private company. This data contained personal information about everyone with a Social Security number―addresses, places of birth, mothers’ maiden names, and more. All that information on one thumb driver is a hacker’s dream.

Theft of everyone’s private Social Security data amounts to over 500 million felonies. This is the largest data breach in American history.

Congress hasn’t issued a single subpoena about this hack. We must demand immediate accountability. Tell Congress: Investigate and hold accountable any DOGE staffer who stole our data!

The accused staffer reportedly said that he was counting on a presidential pardon if he was being held accountable. This shows the blatant impunity and disregard for the law across the Trump administration. If Congress refuses to take action, they are complicit in this crime.

We are a nation of laws, and the law says this data can only be used for one purpose: To ensure that the American people get the benefits they’ve earned.

This data breach isn’t an isolated incident. It’s the predictable result following a series of terrible decisions by key actors in the Republican Party.

• First, Donald Trump handed the richest man on Earth total access to our government agencies, budgets, and data.

• Then Elon Musk insisted on ‘god-level’ access to the Social Security master file, including the ability to re-write our data on the fly, and even declare living people dead.

• When challenged in court, the Supreme Court enabled this data theft by giving DOGE unfettered access to Social Security data.

• Republicans in Congress have also enabled it by refusing to support Democratic efforts to investigate DOGE operatives and hold them accountable.

There is currently no meaningful check on the Trump administration. For the security of our earned benefits and the personal data we have entrusted to our government, that must change.

If Democrats win control of Congress this November, they will have the power to subpoena DOGE operatives and seek to hold those who have committed crimes accountable.
