Tell Chevron’s CEO: Stop evading Chevron’s responsibility for your destruction of Louisiana’s coast line

In a lawsuit decades in the making, Chevron stands accused of damaging Louisiana’s coastline.

If Louisiana wins the case, the state’s communities have a chance to receive billions of dollars to cover restoration and remediation costs. But if Chevron wins, it will bear zero consequences for harming the state’s coast.

Even worse, a ruling in favor of Chevron could weaken the ability of localities across the country to hold corporations accountable for environmental damage.

Louisiana’s Solicitor General says Chevron doesn’t deny that “they dumped billions of gallons” of oil and gas extraction byproduct “directly into our marsh."

But Chevron knows it’s more likely to have a more sympathetic ear in the federal court system than in the state of Louisiana, so it’s abusing our justice system to try and get the case moved.

Louisiana lost around 2,000 square miles of land along its coast from 1932 to 2016. Chevron should fix what it broke, not play games with our justice system to evade responsibility.

Send a message to Chevron’s CEO today. Tell him to stop evading Chevron’s responsibility for its destruction of Louisiana’s coast line and to drop their attempt to fight Louisiana’s lawsuit.
