Paramount's CEO David Ellison has promised Trump "sweeping changes" at CNN if Paramount's $111 billion media mega-merger with Warner Brothers is finalized.¹

Rep. Jamie Raskin is demanding answers from Ellison "in light of troubling reports that [Paramount] is colluding with President Trump and his Administration to curtail media independence, spread political censorship, and suppress dissent."²

Senator Elizabeth Warren called the proposed merger an "antitrust nightmare."³

Paramount even secured billions from sovereign wealth funds in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates for the deal.⁴ Congress must launch a full investigation into Paramount's takeover for antitrust violations and foreign influence.

A federal judge temporarily blocked Paramount's $111 billion takeover of Warner Brothers in July, setting the stage for Congress to turn up the heat on Ellison and block the deal.⁵

Democratic lawmakers are demanding the Paramount CEO answer for transforming CBS into a right-wing network full of "fawning press coverage" of Trump, and the prospect of his growing news empire becoming Trump's "state media."⁶

When Ellison took over CBS, Paramount installed right-wing Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief of CBS News. She ruined 60 Minutes, turning journalism into MAGA propaganda with Ellison’s full backing.

Sen. Warren said, "A handful of Trump-aligned billionaires are trying to seize control of what you watch and charge you whatever price they want."⁷

Trump has relentlessly threatened comedians, journalists, and news networks for reporting the news or making jokes at his expense. It's straight from the authoritarian playbook, and will get even worse if Trump's allies at Paramount take over Warner Brothers and CNN.

Congress must ramp up the pressure on Ellison and Paramount, scrutinize this dangerous deal, and block the mega-merger.
