Tell NJ Lawmakers: Make the Wealthy Pay What They Owe

New Jersey's Fiscal Year '27 budget was signed on time, before the June 30th deadline, but the work isn't over.

This year's budget included some important wins, including expanding the Child Tax Credit, making the full pension payment, preserving a healthy surplus, and closing some corporate tax loopholes. Those are meaningful steps forward.

But New Jersey's biggest challenges remain. Healthcare costs continue to rise. School districts face growing budget pressures. Housing is increasingly out of reach for too many residents. At the same time, the wealthiest households and the largest corporations continue to capture a growing share of the state's prosperity while contributing less than they should.

Year after year, lawmakers are forced to make difficult choices because our tax code fails to keep pace with the concentration of wealth at the top.

We can build a stronger, more stable New Jersey by modernizing our tax code and asking those who have benefited the most from our economy to contribute their fair share.

Take Action

Tell your legislators it's time to build support for tax fairness. Ask them to become co-sponsors and champions for policies that:

  • Increase marginal tax rates on incomes over $2 million A5121 (Brennan)
  • End the practice of large corporations hiding profits offshore S4204 (Mukherji) / A5039 (Brennan)

The next budget debate starts long before next year's budget is written. The more lawmakers hear from constituents today, the more likely these solutions are to be ready.
