Tell your councilmember: we deserve air conditioning!
Extreme heat is the leading cause of climate-related death in NYC, with more than 500 New Yorkers dying from heat-related illness every year. Most of these deaths occur in homes without air conditioning, or with the air conditioning turned off.
There's a proposed bill in the City Council, Intro 0994, which would require landlords to provide tenants with cooled and dehumidified indoor air in the summer, with a maximum temperature of 78 degrees. Send an email to your council member demanding they vote YES on the right to cooling!
