Tell Your Delagate to Support Transparency for Lab Schools

This bill has passed the House Education Committee and will be voted on by the entire chamber soon.

College Partnership Lab schools are subject to various accreditation and standards requirements, but they are not yet required to provide easily accessible contact points where parents can ask questions or express concerns about program administration or a student's experience at such a school.

HB206 would promote transparency and facilitate parental input on behalf of their child by requiring college partnership laboratory schools to clearly identify on their website the members and meeting schedule of the school's governing board; a summary of the operational, budgetary, and contractual decisions of the governing board; and the Board of Education regulations to which such school is subject.

By promoting transparency, this bill will help parents, students and ultimately the schools themselves, and deserves wide support.
