Politicians in six states have used the coronavirus crisis as an excuse to ban abortion access, denying urgent healthcare to people in need. Another five states have signaled that they may follow suit.

At a time when millions of Americans are focusing on keeping their families safe, it’s unconscionable that elected officials are using this global crisis to promote an anti-choice agenda. These politicians are more interested in forcing people to stay pregnant than stay safe during a public health crisis.

The vast majority of Americans support reproductive freedom, and it is unacceptable to use this national emergency as a loophole to restrict access to abortion.

Restricting access to reproductive healthcare disproportionately affects already vulnerable communities. This restriction only increases the disparity gap and specifically endangers communities of color.
