Our Message to the government representatives to the 24th Session of the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change:
This is a pivotal year for the United Nations Paris Agreement on climate change—and for the planet.
In December 2018, government delegates from around the world will meet to decide how to implement the Paris Agreement.
But already, powerful forces are aligning to block progress at the climate talks:
- Big polluters, which have profited enormously from driving the climate crisis, and
- Powerful countries with the greatest historical share of emissions, like the U.S., that have a shameful history of advancing Big Polluters' agenda.
Recently, the world’s leading climate scientists warned that we have only 12 years to achieve the massive transformation needed to avoid the worst effects of climate change. If governments don’t agree on strong guidelines for the Paris Agreement this year, our next chance won’t be until 2023. That’s far too late for millions of people around the world, many of whom are already experiencing climate change’s devastation.
So right now, please click "Add Your Name" on the right and help us demonstrate a groundswell of support for the People’s Demands for Climate Justice -- a joint global call to government delegates demanding that this year’s climate talks actually lead to meaningful, just climate solutions.
These demands have been shaped by people’s movements around the world that are directly experiencing climate change’s impacts. We need to show that people everywhere, including in the U.S., widely echo and support these demands.
Please add your name now to demonstrate your support -- and to ensure that the Paris Agreement isn’t weakened in the name of Big Polluters’ profits, but instead becomes a powerful force for ensuring our survival, advancing climate justice, and righting historical wrongs.

We urge you to stand with people across the world – not Big Polluters – and immediately take steps to address the climate crisis. This December, at COP24, you will lay out the rules to implement the Paris Agreement, policies that will affect the lives of billions of people.
The urgency of the climate crisis requires a just response centered on human rights, equity, and justice. We demand you:
*Keep fossil fuels in the ground.
*Reject false solutions that are displacing real, people-first solutions to the climate crisis.
*Advance real solutions that are just, feasible, and essential.
*Honor climate finance obligations to developing countries.
*End corporate interference in and capture of the climate talks.
*Ensure developed countries honor their Fair Shares for largely fueling this crisis.
