Climate Crisis: Stop Airport Expansion

Kerry McCarthy MP, Darren Jones MP, Karin Smyth MP, Thangam Debbonaire MP, Mayor Marvin Rees

Airport expansion fuels climate change and makes meeting our Paris commitments impossible. Climate change causes flooding, droughts, sea level rise, and makes it difficult to grow food. This is an injustice suffered by people around the world who haven't caused the problem, and one which young people will have to deal with.

Bristol is leading the way with the Council recognising the urgency of the climate crisis by declaring a climate emergency. To sincerely honour this pledge they must oppose the proposed Bristol airport expansion as it would significantly increase climate emissions. Likewise our MPs need to oppose the third runway Heathrow expansion which would see the airport become the single largest source of emissions in the UK, equal to the entire economy of Croatia.

To address the climate crisis and protect our futures we need no airport expansion here, no airport expansion anywhere!
