Free Just Stop Oil political prisoners imprisoned without trial in UK jails

10 people are being held in prison, without trial for nonviolently resisting our criminal government. They acted because the Government isn’t doing what it should, protecting us from those planning for new oil and gas, the greatest crime against humanity. Those 10 people are incarcerated because their belief that we should stop new fossil fuels is contrary to that of our government — they are political prisoners.

It gets worse. The progression of draconian new laws as part of the Police, Crimes, Sentencing and Courts Act and Public Order Bills effectively seeks to end meaningful protest. These laws will affect everybody's freedom of expression, protest, the right to strike and participation in a fair and just democracy.
If we fail to resist these profoundly unjust and undemocratic actions taken by this Government and its Judiciary, we risk the loss of the rule of law and all hard won rights and freedoms, everything we love and cherish.
We therefore demand that Parliament make a meaningful statement that they will immediately free all the political prisoners currently held without trial in UK prisons. We make this demand on the grounds that their imprisonment is unlawful and that it represents a shift towards authoritarianism by the British government for which they have no public mandate.

Dear Prime Minister,
We are writing to you to ask that you release the ten political prisoners who are being held awaiting trial for their actions with Just Stop Oil.
A lot's happened since last Valentine's Day, when we wrote to the predecessor of your predecessor, Boris Johnson. We invited him to act on the science, that to have an even chance of limiting global temperature rise, in line with the Paris Agreement there could be no more investment in new fossil fuel supply projects. This is also the position of the International Energy Agency (“IEA”), the expert energy adviser to industrialised governments. No New Oil is a no brainer.
One year ago our letter stressed that the Government, which you were part of, knew that “there was no credible pathway to 1.5˚C in place” which is a death sentence for our children and for whole countries and regions of the world - and that your own Net Zero Strategy made this painfully clear. And now, have been warned by the United Nations that we will hurtle over 1.5˚C
While your party has buried its head in the sand, change is happening. The world's largest re-insurer, Munich Re has agreed to stop insuring new fossil fuel projects, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group and the Royal Bank of Scotland will no longer invest in new fossil fuels, the Scottish Government and now the Labour Party leader; Keir Starmer have all pledged to end new fossil fuels. A policy supported by the British Public.
It's just you that's not listening, accelerating the granting of North Sea oil and gas licences and approving a new coal mine in Cumbria. This is to disregard the British Public and to knowingly plan for the death of countless millions, for the loss of entire nation states. It is an act of Genocide, for which you will be held accountable.
We write this letter of love for the peoples, generations and species who are dying because of your actions. You are not the future. We will keep going for those who are.
We will not be bystanders.
