Homeland Security Investigations: Get out of Towson!

Homeland Security Investigations - SAC Baltimore

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a directorate of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is scheduled to attend Towson’s Fall Career and Internship Fair on September 26. We successfully pressured them to withdraw from last semester’s fair, but they are scheduled to return. They may think students have moved on, but we remain as determined as ever to prevent ICE and associated agencies such as HSI from recruiting our classmates. According to a statement from HSI’s recruiter, they “plan to engage students only on our investigative mission and career opportunities.” However, HSI’s own website says their “resources are aligned to the broader goals of ICE and DHS [Department of Homeland Security].” While HSI recruits may not be directly engaged in the abduction and detention of migrants, they are an important part of the broader federal network enabling these actions by ICE.

If you are concerned about HSI’s presence at Towson’s Fall Career and Internship Fair, sign on here to show them that our community does not want their recruiters present on campus. All students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community supporters are welcome to sign. Follow us on Instagram @towsonydsa for updates.

Over the past year, we have witnessed a severe increase in anti-migrant violence perpetrated by DHS through agencies like ICE. Several students across the country, such as Rümeysa Öztürk, Mahmoud Khalil, and others, have been wrongfully taken off the streets by masked men for practicing their constitutionally protected right to free speech. Maryland residents, including Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was arrested due to an administrative error, and Daniel Fuentes Espinal, who committed a civil violation and holds no criminal record, have been held and transferred across state and national borders without due process. Others have been arrested and detained by ICE, even while reporting to ICE for a required check in. HSI plans on recruiting Towson students to vital support roles in the violent crackdown on our classmates and neighbors. We as Towson students rebuke your presence and recruitment activity on our campus. We demand you withdraw from Towson’s Fall Career and Internship Fair on September 26, 2025, and all future recruitment events.
