Justice for Blue Licks

Robertson County Judge Executive

A group of over 40 residents in Robertson County are fighting to stop a limestone mining quarry next to Blue Licks State Park in Piqua, KY. An out of state mining company named Olde World Stone,LLC obtained their mining permit on May 10th. they have been working there steadily since February 23rd of this year. Not only does Blue Licks State Park and Blue Licks Nature Preserve, which contains Short’s Goldenrod, bound the quarry property, but there is also an endangered mussel species in the Indian Creek that runs through the property. The noise from the excavation and stripping can be heard for miles and the damage can been seen from Highway 165. This mining operation will have a devastating impact on the natural ecosystem around Blue Licks State Park and be a burden and nuisance to surrounding neighbors and visitors to the park. Please sign this petition to support these residents.

Dear Robertson County Judge Executive,

Please stop the mining permit by Old World Stone LLC for the quarry near Blue Licks State Park. This mining will destroy our natural landscape in the Indian Creek holler, worsen erosion and the loss of our top soil. The quarry boundary is within the Blue Licks Nature Preserve and there are endangered mussel species in Indian Creek. There were numerous instances of negligence in approving this permit.

Thank you,
