Let Novant Know How You Feel About Our Two Star Hospital

Ernie Bovio, President Novant Coastal Region

Ask Novant Health and New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) to listen to our community and to be open and honest about hospital quality. The residents of Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear deserve clear information about how our hospital is doing and what is being done to make it better.

We ask Novant to:

  • Show us how they are doing by posting key hospital performance measures on their website where everyone can see it.
  • Show us their Hospital Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and update it every six months until NHRMC reaches a 4-star rating.

These documents already exist and Novant only needs to share them with us. Showing us the plan is the best way to rebuild trust and prove they are working to keep their promises.

When Novant bought NHRMC, they said they would make it a high-quality hospital with a national reputation. That has not happened. Medicare has rated NHRMC at 2 stars out of 5 since 2021, and the rating has not improved. In 2024, the Leapfrog Group also downgraded the hospital from a B to a C for patient safety.

Our community has waited long enough. We deserve a hospital that provides safe and reliable care.

Sign this petition to let Novant know that quality matters to you. To ensure you are heard, all clean and constructive comments—positive or negative—will be shared with Novant anonymously.

The residents of Wilmington and the Lower Cape Rear deserve clear information about how our hospital is doing and what is being done to make it better.
