It's time for courage. It's time to Impeach

Robert Mueller's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee has made it clear that Donald Trump would be indicted for obstruction of justice if he were not president. It is also clear from his testimony that the House of Representatives must begin the process of impeachment.

It is not often that we find ourselves quoting libertarian Republicans, but Rep. Justin Amash has hit the nail on the head concerning why it's tome for impeachment.

Amash wrote, "Impeachment, which is a special form of indictment, does not even require probable cause that a crime (e.g., obstruction of justice) has been committed; it simply requires a finding that an official has engaged in careless, abusive, corrupt, or otherwise dishonorable conduct.

"While impeachment should be undertaken only in extraordinary circumstances, the risk we face in an environment of extreme partisanship is not that Congress will employ it as a remedy too often but rather that Congress will employ it so rarely that it cannot deter misconduct."

Democratic leaders keep telling us that the time is not right for impeachment discussions. They tell us that almost no Republicans have the courage to challenge Trump. But why would they, when their Democratic colleagues have not even stepped up.

It's time for all Members of Congress to take the right stand, the courageous stand for our country, and join the move to impeach.

This is a serious matter. It is so serious that we’ve changed our minds about calling for impeaching Trump. Up until now it was our position that calling for impeachment was emotionally satisfying, but premature and politically impossible. With the identification of Trump as a co-conspirator in a felony, we believe the time has come to call for Trump’s impeachment.

Therefore, we have created this petition to put incumbents on the record before the upcoming congressional election.

The impeachment proceedings in the House, and trial by the Senate, will give Congress the ability to weigh the evidence in public, and will give Trump the opportunity to conduct a public defense under oath.

The time has come for impeachment proceedings to begin. Sign the petition below.
