Once again, our health care is under attack. In a recent filing with a federal appeals court, Trump’s Justice Department seeks to invalidate the Affordable Care Act (ACA), severely disrupting the health care system and potentially leaving up to 100 million Americans’ health insurance at risk.
This stunning reversal of position should come as no surprise, and now we must make sure that we protect our access to affordable health care.
House Democrats have introduced measures to restrengthen and expand the ACA via the Protecting Preexisting Conditions and Making Health Care More Affordable Care Act of 2019.
The bill contains provisions to undo the Trump administration’s actions to weaken the ACA that include expanding the tax credits available under the law, reducing costs for lower-income families and expanding eligibility and keeping premium increases in check by creating a national reinsurance program to offset high medical bills for insurers.

The American people are sick of the Trump administration’s attempts to take away their health care and gut coverage for the sick, the needy, and people with pre-existing conditions.
