Dear [Legislator Name],

We’re on the brink of real prison transparency—SB 1507 sailed through both chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support and cleared every committee unanimously. Now Governor Hobbs is threatening to strip its $1.5 million funding from the budget, leaving our Independent Correctional Oversight Office powerless.

This isn’t politics; it’s about saving lives, protecting both incarcerated people and correctional staff, and preventing taxpayers from footing the bill for unchecked abuses. Governor Hobbs asked for oversight. You delivered a bipartisan solution that fixes problems and saves lives.

Please stand firm and ensure SB 1507 remains fully funded in this year’s budget. Tell Governor Hobbs: No oversight, no budget. Fund and sign SB 1507 into law without delay.

Thank you for your leadership and for choosing people over politics.

Sincerely,
Voter/Concerned Citizen
