The Carroll County Board of Election recently proposed Option 4; a measure to close Winters Mill as a high school are re-purpose it as a middle school.
The Committee to Save Winters Mill is a community of parents, teachers, and community members dedicated to defeating Option 4 and preserving the thriving culture and community at Winters Mill High School.

Winters Mill needs to remain a HIGH school for several reasons.
We are a unique, strong and vibrant Falcon family! In just 12 years we have built a tradition of academic, extracurricular and service excellence.
We are the ONLY nationally ranked high school in Carroll County. U.S. News & World Report ranked WMHS in the TOP 1,200 high schools nationwide.
Nearly 1 in 4 of our kids are economically disadvantaged. 23% of our students qualify for free or reduced meals.
We serve the most minorities. 20% of WMHS students are students of color.
We serve the most special needs students. 16% of our students receive Special Ed or 504 services.
We serve the most non-English speaking students. 3% of our students receive ESOL services.
We have the top enrolled, best-utilized high school in the county. The Board of Education's own study found that WMHS will be at 92% utilization in 2017-18 compared to 59% for Manchester Valley, 64% for North Carroll and 75% for FSK. Winters Mill is also projected to be the BEST utilized high school in the county (89%).
