The Dr. Charles A. Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education at the University of Southern Maine provides educational opportunities to union members, students, and workers across Maine so they can participate fully in their workplaces, communities, and our democracy.  The Scontras Center staff along with union organizers and leaders, scholars and community partners provide engaging and robust training and programming.  This includes public programming, core and advanced training and workshops, platforms for discussing contemporary topics in labor education, bootcamps and institutes, and general enrollment classes.  The Scontras Center provides both open enrollment training for free to union members and workers as well as tailored workshops specifically requested by labor unions, workers’ organizations, and community organizations.
