Petition for LA to Recognize "International Long Covid Awareness Day"
The LA City Council
March 15 is International Long Covid Awareness Day. Los Angeles should join the State of CA and other cities already recognizing it. Signing this petition tells the City Council that residents want Long Covid acknowledged and City Hall lit teal in observance.

Los Angeles should join the State of California and the global community in officially recognizing March 15 as International Long Covid Awareness Day and lighting City Hall teal in observance. We call on the Los Angeles City Council to introduce and adopt a motion designating this annual recognition and directing the illumination of City Hall. We invite any willing Councilmember to sponsor this ceremonial motion, which follows established City practice for awareness day recognitions and City Hall illuminations.
Long Covid affects tens of thousands of Angelenos, although the City has never formally acknowledged it. Cities around the world already observe this international day, lighting skylines and landmarks in teal, the symbolic color of Long Covid. Los Angeles should do the same by making Long Covid visible, validating those living with it, and showing the City’s commitment to supporting affected residents.
We respectfully ask the Los Angeles City Council to:
• Introduce and adopt a motion designating March 15 as International Long Covid Awareness Day in Los Angeles.
• Direct the illumination of Los Angeles City Hall in teal each year on March 15.
This recognition is a meaningful step toward visibility, acknowledgment, and public understanding for Angelenos living with Long Covid.
